Anger is a secondary emotion and arises in me when……………?
How we deal with anger is extremely important to us individually and relationally. Obviously there are too many things to list here that might make us angry, but if some ‘thing’ is ‘making’ us angry then that ‘thing’ is in the driving seat and not actually us! Uncontrolled anger is literally us out of our own control. Understanding the triggers that get us to the point of losing control unlocks the power that anger has over us. Understanding anger needs to be a higher priority than simply managing anger.
Once a person has understood why they get angry they can begin to dis-empower the anger through logic and emotional healing.
If you have to react in anger or work yourself into an angry state to defend yourself or get your own way then there is a reason for it. Perhaps something as simple as an injustice happened earlier in life that is still emotionally sore.
Keeping the lid on your anger is not really freedom from anger.
